In recent years our field has enjoyed a tremendous resurgent, which has been reflected in greater recognition by the scholars and a number of new collectors. The prices achieved in recent auctions are reflecting the growing popularity in the field of 19th century French furniture. It also is getting well deserved recognition from the stand point of scholar research .New works in Europe are bringing to light very interesting manuscripts about leading French makers of the 19th century.
My name is Dr. Alexander Gordon and I have been a collector for many years. It was always very frustrating to find any reference literature about 19th century French furniture and decorations. As far as I know there are only two books in English dedicated to the subject: François Linke (1855-1946) The Belle Epoque of French Furniture and 19 Century European Furniture- both by the leading authority in the our field- Christopher Payne. We will try to cover this shortcoming by bringing to you any references we can find. For example over the years I was lucky to find quite a few very rare catalogues of work from the leading masters of 19th century furniture making: Millet, Beurdeley, Krieger and others. We will publish them on our Web site so you can access this invaluable information. We will also have a blog and Forum section where we can exchange ideas and have opinions of the leading experts in 19th century French Furniture and Decorations.
